Patagonia is Jaw. Dropping.
I've seen a few glaciers on my travels in a few countries. All have been so beautiful and impressive...but none have compared to the Perito Moreno glacier in Argentina.
As I was in the car on my way there, I could see it in the distance and it looked so small. When I arrived at the viewing area across from the glacier and walked down the stairs, my breath was taken away.
Not only is it absolutely MASSIVE, but the deep shades of blue are incredible. I remember how the glaciers in Iceland were covered with black volcanic soil in some places but this glacier is pristine and looks like it is too perfect to be real.
I know Patagonia is a super popular destination for tourists worldwide, but personally I had never heard of Perito Moreno and only visited it by luck after a recommendation from a local.
Do.Not.Miss.It!!! There are tours offering the opportunity to hike on the glacier and others take you only to the viewing area across the water. There is a price difference but if you can swing it, I highly recommend the tour that allows you to view and then walk on the glacier as well. You can't truly appreciate the size and beauty until you get up close.
